Assisted Living - Housing with Services Market
Rate Some
senior developments provide residents with an independent living
option while offering services and support with daily living
activities. Sometimes these options have programs called "Assisted
Living," or "Continuing Care," or "Catered Living," etc. This
section provides listings of developments that offer some special
services and/or programs. These places may vary greatly in their
costs, what they offer in their costs, what they offer and what kind
of guarantee they provide to residents whose needs may change over
time.
Programs
may be very comprehensive, offering a continuum of care as residents
become frail or need assistance. Or there may be a "menu" of
services that residents may use or purchase as needed. Services and
features may include meals, laundry/linen service, housekeeping,
personal care/nurse, 24-hour emergency response system,
transportation, and organized social and recreational activities.
Seniors considering housing with special services/programs may
appreciate the security of being able to consider "aging in place"
as needs change.
Services
may or may not be included with the rent. Because prices and
features vary, it is important to check with the developments of
your choice and be aware of what you will receive and at what
cost.

Assisted Living - Housing with
Services Subsidized Housing
with special services and programs is available in certain buildings
that are subsidized. Along with an affordable apartment new and
current residents can access services based on a percentage of their
income. These programs offer income eligible residents the
opportunity to continue living with dignity, well being and a sense
of independence in their own home. These facilities feature: on-site
property and assisted living program management, one-bedroom and
studio apartments, handicapped-accessible apartments, spacious
community rooms and common areas, dining areas with full service
kitchens, laundry facilities, elevators, keycard controlled
entrances, and are fully accessible throughout for disabled
residents. Residents pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent.
Service enriched housing complexes assist older adults at a time
when they need it the most. Services include meals, health care,
medication assistance, routine housekeeping, laundry services, and
personal care assistance, which can include bathing and grooming.
Recreation and social activities are available and some buildings
have day programs that provide organized activity and exercise.
Round the clock emergency assistance is available through an
automatic call system responded to by on-site staff members. Cost
for services is based on participants' income and
resources.
